What is involved?

This Work Group is a Research and Innovation Work Group in which we will explore and discuss research and pedagogies around teaching mixed-age classes whilst evaluating how they may be implemented in your own setting. We will work as a group to trial strategies, resources and approaches; sharing the impact it has in our classrooms and developing our practice.

Throughout the sessions, we will also explore curriculum design in a mixed-age setting as well as the role of problem solving and using representations to support and challenge. Participants will attend the collaborative face to face sessions at Kelloe Primary School with Work Group Lead, Samantha Patterson

This new offer builds on earlier work and has been commissioned in response to current discussions across the Maths Hub Network. As a situated commissioned theme within Primary Mastery Sustaining, the aim is to collectively develop expertise in using NCETM materials in mixed-age settings where teaching for mastery is already embedded.

Bring questions, ideas and share your practice with the group.

Benefits

-You will be part of a collaborative community, discussing research, innovating and impacting on future NCETM programmes.

- You will consider approaches and strategies for teaching a mixed-age group, evaluating their impact in your setting and sharing with the group

- You will gain knowledge of problem solving and using representations to support and challenge

- Have the opportunity to ask questions and develop resources as a group
