Carmel College was the venue on the 11th March 2020 for an exciting "Exploration of Mastery". The 2019/20 England China exchange has not seen the Chinese teachers visit the UK this year but we celebrated the knowledge we have gained from previous exchanges and welcomed 60 teachers, maths leads and head teachers to observe a mastery style maths lesson. This lesson focused on subtracting fractions and was taught to Year 4 children from St Margaret’s Church of England Primary school in Durham. One of our Cohort 3 Primary Mastery Specialists, Emily Pringle who has visited Shanghai and was part of the exchange process in 2018/19, delivered the lesson using the five big ideas for mastery.
